Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) AIAG-VDA 1st Edition Course
(Risk Priority Number)

Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) AIAG-VDA 1st Edition Course
Principle and Rationale
Automotive parts manufacturers apply the IATF 16949:2016 quality management standard for the automotive industry, which refers to the Core Tools. One of these Core Tools is FMEA.
Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) is a tool used to analyse and anticipate problems that may occur in the future and the causes that may give rise to them, drawing on the team's past experience, in order to find preventive measures so that those causes, and therefore the problems, do not occur. The product development team, together with the cross functional team, therefore needs a thorough understanding of the process and of the analysis, so that it can be used to genuinely prevent problems.
Course Objectives
- To understand the principles of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and apply them correctly in the organization
- To understand the difference between DFMEA and PFMEA
- To understand the principle of determining the Action Priority (AP) in place of calculating the Risk Priority Number (RPN)
- To understand the roles and responsibilities of the Cross Functional Team in performing the FMEA
- To be able to convert an FMEA from the AIAG 4th Edition so that it conforms to the AIAG-VDA 1st Edition
