Principle and Rationale

Because requirements for plastic molding suppliers have been specified by automotive OEM customers, OEM customers and Tier 1 suppliers made a joint effort to build confidence in the processes of molding plants. The requirements established under this standard therefore benefit the plastic molding industry serving OEM customers. To achieve an effective process, a system for auditing both the process and the product is needed, so that quality conforms to the standard and the risk of defects from molding processes used in automotive applications is reduced.
