Course Summary
Climate change is causing natural variability, partly because of a significant rise in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere from human activities and industry, with direct and indirect impacts on the economy, society and the environment.
These changes have wide global impacts on the sustainability of humanity, leading to global forums that aim to get every sector to cut greenhouse gas emissions, such as the UNFCCC COP, the World Economic Forum and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, with the goal of net zero emissions from production and services from 2050 onwards.
To reduce emissions, we first need to know how much we emit today and from which sources. An organisational carbon footprint assessment is therefore the basis for setting future emission reduction targets.
Course objective
- Understand the principles of calculating an organisation's carbon footprint, collect data and assess the carbon footprint
- Understand how to prepare a greenhouse gas inventory and emissions report
- Understand the system and steps for certifying an organisational carbon footprint
