Course Summary
Documented information is a key element of an environmental management system under ISO 14001:2026. It is used to control operations, communicate requirements and provide evidence that the system conforms.
The revised standard stresses that organisations must create and control documents systematically, covering creation, updating, access and control of information, so documents are correct, current and available where needed.
Without effective document control, work errors, use of incorrect information and nonconformities during audits can follow.
EQA developed this course to build knowledge and understanding of creating and controlling documents to the ISO 14001:2026 requirements, and to apply it to make the system effective and ready for audit.
Course objective
- Understand the ISO 14001:2026 requirements for documented information, clause 7.5, correctly
- Understand the principles of creating and controlling documents and records in an environmental management system

- Design a document control system: document numbering, version control and systematic storage
- Link document control to real operations such as operational control and audits
- Identify common weaknesses and set suitable improvements to the document system
